Amazing Thermometer. Unfortunately the thermometer stick itself is quite thin and it snapped during hand drying after only 2 uses! I will remember to be careful the next time I purchase one of these thermometers again :)
Hi Zarhia, Pleased to hear you had good use of your thermometer (before it was broken). Wilton utilise a traditional ruler candy thermometer design to protect the fragile glass actual thermometer section as much as they can, however that glass is fragile (simply by nature of being glass). We would always recommend, like any tools/bakeware/cookware used in heat, that you allow plenty of time for everything to cool after using. Having reached temperatures of up to 200C when in use putting that immediately into a lower temp can lead to thermal shock, which can mean breakage. There's also the danger of being knocked and compromised when it's in the sink with your other dishes or a kitchen drawer with other tools, I would probably include this with your knives (as a wash individually item) and store it somewhere that it's safe from damage. Hopefully this will provide some ideas for keeping your replacement safe and sound but do reach out if you have any queries about thermal shock etc.
