Staub
Why we love Staub ...
Since 1974, Staub has been making cast iron in Alsace, France that’s as good-looking as it is hard-working. The detail is the difference - the self-basting spikes inside the lid that keep everything moist, and the black matte enamel interior that needs no seasoning and only improves with use.
The cocotte (French oven) is the heart of the range. The heavy cast iron holds heat beautifully, so it’s just as happy slow-braising lamb, baking sourdough or simmering a weeknight stew. We stock the round cocottes across the full run of colours, the wok and grill pans for a proper sear, plus the speciality ceramic pieces like the tomato, pumpkin and artichoke cocottes that bring a bit of fun to the table.
Every piece is cast in sand moulds and finished by hand, which is why a Staub lasts for generations, not years. It’s the pot you’ll reach for on a Tuesday, not just save for Sunday - heavy, yes, but that weight is the whole point. It’s not a small spend, but it’s the definition of buy well, buy once - cookware that's part of your family's food memories you’ll hand on one day.
