Kathy Paterson's Crumble Topping

Tip – Add a handful of toasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped, to the prepared topping.


1 cup plain flour
½ cup soft brown sugar, firmly packed
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 Tablespoons rolled oats
100g cold butter, diced


Put the dry ingredients in the food processor and process using pulse button to combine. Add the butter and process (using the pulse button), until the mixture begins to form large clumps. Try not to overmix.
Makes enough to cover the top of a large baking dish or skillet (as we have here) filled with fruit.
